This project was truly a challenge. We actually moved this building across Berkeley. It was moved from MLK at Alcatraz, to its current and final location on Sacramento St. The permits, and coordination with the Utility Companies, and The City of Berkeley alone for the move of the building, made me question why we chose to do this. I suppose it was one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time, and a challenge which we are always looking for, oh and the fact we got the building for $1. So once we got the building to the site, we raised it up and built commercial space underneath, as well as built a new attached second building, with the parking on the ground floor. We ended up with 3 residential apartments, and 1 commercial retail/office space. This was our first Building Move (June 1999), and our first Mixed Use Project. See the Pix, they tell the story.
